The Red Lotus Sea, Udon Thani

An incredible paradise called Talay Bua Daeng, Udon Thani.
February 2016, I was browsing Instagram pictures on my webangkok page when I found an amazing place in Northeast of Thailand located at 50 km from Udon Thani, called Talay Bua Daeng, known as Red Lotus Sea. This spectacular lake is home of millions pink lotus flowers. Best time to visit is from December to February, from 6 am to 11 am, and it is a perfect natural attraction for a Valentine’s Day trip. I had only two weeks before all the flowers were gone, I didn’t want to wait another year, so I book a flight and go. From Udon Thani you can easily reach the location with local taxi same I did. At the beginning I was quite disappointed, I couldn’t see any lotus, the place didn’t look as I expected. The first part of navigation is among lake grasses, lily pads and murky water but gradually changed. After 15 mins I was in the middle of millions pink lotus and the sun started to rise up. The lake became like a golden mirror full of Red Lotus. I was amazed by this incredible landscape.

Once the sun went up the horizon was completely pink. An incredible feeling, I was alone in a middle of the lake surrounded by millions flowers.

There are few small islands, with Buddha Statues and pagodas on the lake. It looks like they are floating over the flowers. Other interesting moments you could captures are birds flying and local fishermen on their long tail tradition boat.
