Exploring Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Siem Reap is the major tourist hub in Cambodia, since it is the closest city to Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world.
The best time to visit the temple is during sunrise, so be ready to set your alarm a 4.30 am, get a tuk tuk and reach Angkor Archaeological Park.
It was still dark when we entered the archaeological park but 30 mins later we saw one of the best sunrise in our life.
It’s the most popular thing to do here, so expect to be joined by hundreds or thousands of others.
Around Angkor Wat area there are hundreds of other temples to visit such as Bayon with its 2000 large faces carved on the 54 towers that give to the temple its majestic character. The four faces on each of the main tower are images of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara and they signify the omnipresence of the king.
Another must is Ta Phrom temple where the interaction between nature and temples it’s just incredible and awesome. You will feel like in a movie of Indiana Jones.
Siem Reap is not just temples and archaeological sites, you can also enjoy colorful locals markets and the famous fishermen village at Tonle Sap Lake.
Tonle Sap Lake is the greatest sweet water reserve in whole Southeast Asia and it is located only 30 mins by Tuk Tuk from Siem Reap center. Hiring a local boat is the best way to live an incredible experience through the Cambodian Culture.
